Introduction
Anxi, called Guazhou now, a part of the Jiuquan prefecture, is located at the western end of Hexi Corridor, is 116 km. to the east of Dunhuang. It has a fame of “the hometown of sweet melon”, “the granary of Hexi Corridor”.
There are 272 cultural sites in Anxi including Yulin Grottos, Yumen Pass, Suoyang Town and East thousand Grottos.
Yulin Grottos is a sisters-grotto of Dunhuang Grottos, one of the most famous Grottos in China. East thousand Grottos is an art treasure house of Xixia ethnic groups. Suoyang Town is one of the most preserved towns left from Han and Tang Dynasty in the northwest of China.
Precious grottos art, many old towns, legends and stories make Guazhou a well-known town along the ancient Silk Road.
