Introduction
Being capital of 13 dynasties starting from 770 B.C, Luoyang is one cradle of Chinese people. The well known Yangshao Culture Remains which was found in the Yangshao Village in the northwest of Luoyang could be traced back to 6000 years ago. History left Luoyang with rich cultural heritages, such as temples, grottoes, tombs and steles. Longmen Grottoes which was first sculpted and chiseled around 493 AD is famous for its grand treasure trove of Chinese Buddhist statues.
Luoyang is also known as the “city of peonies” and the best time to visit it is in late spring when the peonies are in full bloom.
