Introduction
Dali has a long history of more than 1000 years. It once served as capital of Nanzhao Kingdom during Tang Dynasty (618-907), and capital of Dali Kingdom during Song Dynasty (960-1279).
Dali boasts marvelous natural beauty, especially the famous four scenery of “wind, flower, snow, moon”, namely the Xiaguan Wind (at the far end of the southern Dali City), the Shangguan Flowers (at the far end of the northern Dali City), the Snowcapped Cangshan Mountain and the Moon over Erhai Lake.
The Bais, an ethnic minority, forms the majority in Dali. Just walk along the city and you can experience the charm of their culture: their festivals, clothes, food, and architecture.
