Customs
All Passengers entering China are required to fill out Health Form, Entry Form and the Customs Declaration Form. Visitors are allowed to bring two bottles of liquor (each not exceeding 750 grams) and 400 cigarettes.
Currency
Chinese Currency is called Reminbi (RMB) which is used both by Chinese and foreign tourists. Major Foreign currencies and traveler’s cheques can be exchanged at bank, star rated hotels. Major international credit cards are accepted in all designated hotels and restaurants in most of the cities.
Electricity
Electricity supply is 220 volts, 50 cycles throughout China. Plugs at hotel are normally two-pin or three-pin flat (5 amp).
Water
Tap water at most of hotels are not drinkable but you can find a boiler or a thermos in the room. Tea is often offered free. If you are a coffee-drinker, bring your own instant coffee.
TV Program
Cable TV programs are popular, but western programs are prohibited from being received except in star-rated hotels and you could follow the latest daily world news.
Paper & magazine
China Daily and some English-version magazines published weekly, monthly, even quarterly by Chinese government can be found mostly in star-rated hotels where some overseas publications are also available sometimes.
Admission Fee
Admission rate are the same for both Chinese and foreign tourists. Tour quotation includes first admission fee normally but not the inner ticket somewhere.

Domestic airport tax & fuel surcharge are included in issued air ticket.
Travel Insurance

China Visa
Every visitor to China must possess a valid China visa. Visitors could choose either individual visa or group visa.
Individual Visa
For independent travelers or group less than five participants, each person must provide one passport-size photo and valid passport. It is easy to obtain at Chinese embassies or consulates in many countries.
Group Visa
For groups above five participants, group visa can be arranged either by your travel agent or yourself. Each person must provide name in full, date of birth, sex, passport number, nationality and occupation to the embassy or your travel agency.
Visa Extension
Visa extension can be done at the Foreign Affairs Office of the Public Security Bureau in each capital city.

Do we need special visas to Tibet?
Except China Visa, foreign tourists are required to obtain a special permit before getting into Tibet. The permit must be issued by Tourism Administration of Tibet Autonomous Region with your day by day itinerary.
What is the best season to travel in Tibet?
From June to October are the best season but rainy season between the end of June to the end of September.
What clothes to wear?
Due to the fluctuation between day and night time, sweaters and clothes in layers are recommended.
Any altitude sickness?
The altitude in Lhasa is 3600m above sea level. Most visitors experience some minor symptoms to get used to the thin air. It will be over by couple of days normally. Please refer to your doctor for personal consultation.
Is there heating and oxygen facility in the hotel rooms?
Most of the hotels in Lhasa have equipped central heating and oxygen.
Is it possible to visit the Mt. Everest base camp?
Yes, it is possible. It takes at least five days for the trip from Lhasa. All tourists are required another pass to go to the base. The pass could be done with the help of local travel agent.
What is the population in Lhasa?
Lhasa is the capital city of the Tibet Autonomous Region with a population of about 130,000.
Do many people speak English in Tibet?
Not many people speak English in Lhasa. The formal languages are Chinese and Tibetan but English or other language speaking guide are available from local travel agency.

Beijing time is the only time in China.
