The Silk Road tour follows the footsteps of the great ancient adventurers, archaeologists and Buddhist monks along the historic Silk Road from the Imperial centers to remote parts of China. Travel in comfort along the ancient caravan routes across deserts with mirages, lush oases, breathtaking mountain passes and valleys. Along the way you will view magnificent scenery, art and archaeological wonders .You will meet, in fascinating towns, villages, and pastures, a diversity of peoples whose indigenous cultures show influences from Rome, India, Turkey, Persia, Mongolia and China.
You could venture off the beaten path to travel on the southern Silk Road along which Marco Polo entered China. It skirts the Taklamakan desert. Spend time in the incredible ancient kingdom of KHOTAN which had a long, illustrious history and is internationally famous for its jade, carpets, embroidery, and silk. Join a camel caravan here. The explorers Sven Hedin and Sir Aurel Stein began to explore nearby buried Buddhist cities in the late 19th century. Visit the oasis town of YARKAND at the southwest edge of Taklamakan Desert which was once the main outpost on the caravan route from India to China. Marco Polo passed by here in 1272 and noted the kingdom's "wealth and abundant resources".
